Strength Training App

10 min read

How the Strength Training App Is Structured #

This overview introduces the layout of the Strength Training app so you know where to find things before diving into specifics.

Main navigation #

The left-hand sidebar is always visible and has five sections:

  • Home – a dashboard with new, popular, recommended, and recently viewed content.
  • Exercises** – a searchable, filterable library of exercise demonstrations. This is one of the most-used areas of the app, since it’s where you look up how to perform and analyze specific exercises.
  • 3D Model – an interactive body model you can rotate, isolate, and explore by muscle, bone, or joint.
  • Theory – a video library covering the science behind training, organized by topic.
  • Training – build or browse structured workout programs. This area is covered in its own separate guide.

A Help icon sits at the bottom of the sidebar with FAQs, feedback, and legal links.

[SCREENSHOT: Full left sidebar, zoomed in, with Home, Exercises, 3D Model, Theory, Training, and Help icons visible and labeled]

Home screen #

When you open the app you land on Home. It shows a welcome message and several horizontal, scrollable rows: “New Content,” “Most Popular,” “Recommended For You,” “Recently Viewed,” and “You Might Be Interested In.” These rows mix exercises, theory videos, and training plans together — click any thumbnail to open it.

[SCREENSHOT: Home screen showing the welcome banner and the “New Content” row]

Top bar #

Across the top of every screen you’ll find:

– **Search** – a text field that searches the entire app at once (exercises, muscles, and theory videos together).

– **Bookmark icon** – opens **My Collection**, where saved videos and exercises are stored.

– **Profile icon** – your account menu (name, email, My Profile, Pricing, and Log out).

[SCREENSHOT: Top bar close-up with Search field, bookmark icon, and profile icon each labeled]

The Exercises section #

This is where most day-to-day work happens in the app. It’s a searchable grid of exercise cards, each showing the exercise name and two tags (Category and Area). Above the grid sits a **Search Exercise** field and a **Filter** button.

The Filter panel lets you narrow the list by Category, Area, Sub-Area, Equipment, and Movement Pattern. A **Sort By** dropdown (Default, A–Z, Z–A) controls the order of results.

Clicking any card opens the full exercise detail page — video, muscle breakdown, instructions, and related content.

The video area #

At the top of the page is the exercise demonstration. Click **Play Video** to start it. While the video is paused, a bookmark icon and a share icon appear in the top corner of the frame.

Some exercises show two tabs above the video: **Exercise Videos** and **Common Mistakes**. Common Mistakes (when available) plays a split-screen video comparing correct form (green check) against incorrect form (red X). Not every exercise has this tab.

[SCREENSHOT: Exercise detail page video area showing both the “Exercise Videos” and “Common Mistakes” tabs, with the Common Mistakes split-screen comparison visible]

General Info #

Below the video, **General Info** lists three tags for the exercise:

– **Category** — Isolation, Compound, Functional Training, and so on.

– **Area** — the body region trained (e.g. Abs & Core, Legs).

– **Equipment** — what’s needed to perform it (e.g. Machine, Barbell, Bodyweight).

[SCREENSHOT: General Info panel showing Category, Area, and Equipment rows with their tags]

Active Muscles #

The **Active Muscles** panel breaks down which muscles are involved, grouped by role:

– **Target** (red) — the main muscle the exercise trains.

– **Synergist** (pink) — muscles that assist the target muscle.

– **Stabilizers** (yellow) — muscles that hold the body steady during the movement.

Click any of these three rows to expand it and see the specific muscle names. Click a muscle name to jump straight to that muscle’s page in the 3D Model, where you can see it highlighted on the body and read more about it.

[SCREENSHOT: Active Muscles panel with the “Target” row expanded, showing muscle names underneath]

Description and instructions #

Below Active Muscles is a short description of the exercise. Click **Read More** to expand it into the full text, which includes numbered, step-by-step instructions for performing the exercise correctly.

[SCREENSHOT: Expanded exercise description showing the numbered step-by-step instructions]

Related content #

At the bottom of the page:

– **Alternative Exercises** — a row of similar exercises that train the same area, in case you need a substitute.

– **Expand Your Knowledge** — a row linking to related Theory videos (background science, anatomy, or technique explanations).

[SCREENSHOT: Bottom of exercise page showing the “Alternative Exercises” and “Expand Your Knowledge” rows]

Tips #

– Check the **Common Mistakes** tab when it’s available — it’s the fastest way to see what “wrong form” looks like next to correct form.

– Clicking a muscle name under Active Muscles is a shortcut into the 3D Model — you don’t need to search for the muscle separately.

[SCREENSHOT: All Exercises grid with the Filter panel open, showing Category, Area, Sub-Area, Equipment, and Movement Pattern]

The 3D Model section #

This is an interactive body model. On the right side, three icons let you switch between viewing **Muscles**, **Bones**, and **Joints** as separate layers. Clicking any structure on the model (or finding it through the in-model search) opens a panel with details: Movements, General Info, and Origin & Insertion, plus buttons to **Isolate** or **Hide** that structure.

[SCREENSHOT: 3D Model default view, full body, with the Muscles/Bones/Joints icons on the right visible]

The Theory section #

This is a video library. A left-hand list lets you jump to a specific topic category (12 in total, covering everything from Anatomical Terminology to Research Insights), or browse “All Videos.” Each category shows its videos as thumbnails with a duration badge; clicking one opens a video player.

[SCREENSHOT: Theory section showing the category list on the left and the “Most Viewed” row of video thumbnails]

My Collection #

Click the bookmark icon in the top bar to open My Collection. By default there’s one folder, My Favorites, and you can create additional folders to organize saved items. A free-text search box lets you search within your saved items.

[SCREENSHOT: My Collection panel open, showing the Free search field, New Folder button, and My Favorites folder]

Account menu #

Clicking your profile icon (top right) opens a menu with your name and email, plus links to My Profile and Pricing.

[SCREENSHOT: Profile dropdown menu open, showing name/email at top and My Profile, Pricing, Log out options — email address blurred out for privacy before publishing]

Tips #

– The Exercises section, the 3D Model, and exercise detail pages are all cross-linked — a muscle name on an exercise page opens that muscle in the 3D Model, and a muscle in the 3D Model links back to exercises that train it. You rarely have to search from scratch once you’re inside any of the three.

– The top bar Search is the fastest way to jump straight to an exercise, muscle, or theory video without browsing manually.

– Content saved to My Collection is only visible to your account and won’t affect what other users see.

How to Search for Exercises/Videos in the App? #

This covers the different ways to search in the Strength Training app, depending on whether you want to search everything at once or narrow your search to one section.

Searching the whole app at once #

  1. Click the **Search** field at the top of any screen.
  2. Type any term — an exercise name, a muscle, or a topic (e.g. “squat”).
  3. Results appear grouped into three categories, each with a count: **Exercises**, **Muscles**, and **Theory**.
  4. Click any result to go straight to it, or click **Show all results** to see the full list.

[SCREENSHOT: Top bar search showing typed query “biceps” with grouped results under Exercises, Muscles, and Theory]

Searching within Exercises #

  1. Open the **Exercises** tab from the sidebar.
  2. Use the **Search Exercise…** field to filter the grid by name as you type.
  3. Click **Filter** to narrow results further by Category, Area, Sub-Area, Equipment, or Movement Pattern.
  4. Use the **Sort By** dropdown to reorder results (Default, A–Z, or Z–A).

[SCREENSHOT: Exercises tab with the Search Exercise field filled in and the Filter panel open]

Searching within the 3D Model #

  1. Open the **3D Model** tab from the sidebar.
  2. Click the search (magnifying glass) icon on the right-hand toolbar.
  3. Type a muscle, bone, or joint name into the **Find muscle/bone/joint…** field.
  4. Click a result to jump directly to that structure on the model, with its info panel already open.

[SCREENSHOT: 3D Model search box open with a typed query and a dropdown list of matching muscles]

Tips #

– If you’re not sure which section something lives in, use the top bar Search first — it covers Exercises, Muscles, and Theory in one search.

– Use the Exercises page filters (rather than typing) when you know the type of exercise you want but not its exact name — for example, filtering by Equipment: Bodyweight.

Changing User Preferences (Same as Anatomy) #

This covers where to update your account details and personalize the content the app recommends to you.

Opening your profile

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click **My Profile** from the dropdown menu.

Updating your account details

On the **My Profile** tab you can:

  1. Click the **+** icon on your profile picture to upload a photo.
  2. Edit your **Full Name**.
  3. Edit your **Email**.
  4. Click **Change Password** to update your password.
  5. Click **Save** at the bottom to apply changes.

Your current plan and its expiration date are shown at the top of this page for reference (read-only).

[SCREENSHOT: My Profile tab showing profile picture, Current Plan/Expiration Date, Full Name, Email, and Password fields]

Setting content preferences

  1. From the Profile screen, click **Content Preferences** in the left-hand list.
  2. Select up to 6 topics that interest you (e.g. Strength Training, Stretching, Calisthenics, Biomechanics).
  3. Click **Save**.

The app uses these selections to personalize recommendations shown on your Home screen.

[SCREENSHOT: Content Preferences screen showing the topic buttons, with several already selected/highlighted in orange]

Tips

– You can change your Content Preferences at any time — they only affect recommendations, not what you can search for or access.

– Changing your email here updates your login email as well, so make sure it’s an address you can access.

How Do I Reach the Research Insights Section? #

This covers how to find Research Insights, a Theory category that summarizes recent research studies relevant to training.

Steps:

  1. Click **Theory** in the left sidebar.
  2. Scroll down the category list on the left side of the screen.
  3. Click **Research Insights** near the bottom of the list.
  4. The screen updates to show all Research Insights videos in a grid, with a **Sort By** dropdown in the top right.

[SCREENSHOT: Theory section left-hand category list scrolled down to show “Research Insights,” with cursor about to click it]

[SCREENSHOT: Research Insights grid view showing the back arrow, page title, Sort By dropdown, and rows of video thumbnails]

Alternative route

You can also reach individual Research Insights videos through **Search** — type a topic (e.g. “progressive overload”) into the top bar Search field and look for results under the Theory group.

Research Insights videos are usually short summaries of a single study or finding — check the thumbnail text for the specific question each video answers.
